Maps Personalized Suggestions
Personalized Suggestions can make searching easier and faster by showing you suggestions based on past searches. While signed in, start typing into the search box as you normally would, and relevant suggestions may appear below which you can select to quickly complete your search.

How does this work?
Personalized Suggestions are based past searches in your Web History. In order to see personalized suggestions from Google, you’ll need to sign in with your Google account with Web History enabled. If your Web History is currently paused, you can enable it by clicking Resume on your Web History page.

How do I remove unwanted suggestions?
Personalized Suggestions can be managed and removed from Web History. While typing into the search box, you can remove a suggestion by clicking the Edit link in the bottom corner of the suggestions menu. This will take you to the Web History page where related queries and places can be selected and removed using the Remove button.

What are the benefits of this feature?

» Personalized Suggestions can help you complete searches faster. If you tend to search for the same places and categories multiple times, relevant suggestions can help you complete long or hard-to-remember queries with ease. Personalized suggestions can include categories (e.g. “pizza” or “coffee”), places (e.g. “Eiffel Tower”), or addresses (e.g. “1600 Amphitheatre Pwky”).
» Personalized Suggestions are synced between your desktop and mobile versions of Google Maps. For example, if you come across a restaurant you want to try on Google Maps, it will be easier to get directions on your mobile phone. Open Google Maps on your phone, start typing the name, and you'll quickly see a suggestion. This saves you from re-typing a long query. You can find out more about Personalized Suggestions for mobile here.

Where were suggestions coming from before?
In the past Google has recommended search terms based on Saved Locations. This was also found in the drop down from the search box.

What happened to my Saved Locations data?
While you can no longer manage locations through Saved Locations, you can still access this data. This is your information, so you should be able to be able to take it with you. See how to save the locations from your Saved Locations to a KML file below
1. Be sure that you’re signed into your Google Account. If you aren’t signed in, click the Sign In link in the top right hand corner. 2. This link automatically downloads your Saved Locations to your computer as a KML file. You can import this file into a My Map. Find instructions for doing this here.
